Following several requests for extensions, we have decided to extend the deadline for abstract submissions for the Genetics/Heritage Conference in Liverpool, UK, as follows:
Genetics/Heritage: New Perspectives on the Study of Atlantic Slavery
International Slavery in Liverpool (UK) from April 23-25, 2015
Studies of slavery have traditionally been the domain of historians but more recently archaeologists, social anthropologists, and even geneticists have become interested in those topics and have started to provide fresh insights. The aim of the meeting in Liverpool is to break down disciplinary boundaries by bringing together leading scholars from various fields to present, debate, and discuss various theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches to the study of slavery using examples from their own work.
Confirmed speakers include Alondra Nelson (Columbia University), Eran Elhaik (University of Sheffield), Jada Benn Torres (University of Notre Dame), and Kate Robson-Brown (University of Bristol).
The conference is funded by EUROTAST, a Marie Curie Initial Training Network, and will be hosted by the International Slavery Museum in Liverpool.
